‘Undercover’ explores fear of the person you love leaving, but everything you love about them staying. A musical juxtaposition is created between the light, fluid vocal phrasing and the moody instrumental hook repeated throughout. The lyrical themes second this contrast, from the perspective of a woman in love, whose partner is absent in their relationship. The unpredictable vocal melody highlights the changes of perspective that the protagonist is seeing as they re-evaluate their commitment and love given. The chorus calls in desperation, holding intensity and deep heartbreak. The word ‘Undercover’, emphasises the mystery and lack of understanding when their partner changed.
lyrics
Changing,
Whenever I see your face in the mirror,
I enter dystopian lands,
Right in the palm of your hands.
I’m laying,
Feel the water flow over the sand,
You are a forgiving man,
And I am at your alter.
Praying to God that I won’t fall,
Praying to God I won’t give up.
Praying to God that I won’t fall,
Praying to God I won’t give up.
I can still taste you,
Hear your voice when I wake,
Feel like I know you,
But don’t recognise your face,
Undercover.
Leaving,
Just me with my options I’ve never seen clearer,
I’m doubting my heart and my head,
If your gone I have nothing left.
I’m breaking,
Loving you is cold like heavy weather,
The storm falls right on to my head,
I just want to forget oh,
Praying to God that I won’t fall,
Praying to God I won’t give up.
Praying to God that I won’t fall,
Praying to God I won’t give up.
I can still taste you,
Hear your voice when I wake,
Feel like I know you,
But don’t recognise your face,
Undercover.

Praying to God that I won’t fall,
Praying to God I won’t give up.
Praying to God that I won’t fall,
Praying to God I won’t give up.

Georgie’s voice has the depth, energy and expression of an already established artist. Awesome production/keys, beats and bass supports this vocal talent with a precision rare for a first album venture. So beautifully balanced this album looks to be a gem in anyone’s collection, another great work from Futuristica Music. alastair marriott / DjSquirrel
Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
